Facebook Hack Hong Kong 2012
I attended the Facebook Hack Hong Kong 2012 last week. It was a full day event held in the Intercontinental Hotel. Many Facebook professionals were there to introduce us the most updated Open Graph API which introduced in Feb. It’s the first time Facebook held the Hack event in Hong Kong, first time I met a guy from PhoneGap after the acquisition by Adobe and it’s a full day of delicious food and coffee.
Here are some points to summarize the event and new Open Graph API:
- Create your own Open Graph Actions and Objects
- Performance update on SSO (Single-Sign-On)
- Deep Linking on Native Mobile Apps
- Deprecation of offline_access & publish_stream permissions
- Create mobile app with Facebook support using PhoneGap
- Skeleton, a layout framework to create Responsive Layout (http://getskeleton.com/)
Here are some useful links to the Facebook Open Graph Development.

During the day, I was amazed by seeing a large group of Facebook developers from mainland China. As you may know, Facebook was blocked by PRC since 2009 because of lack of content censorship. I didn’t expect there were so many active Facebook developers and users form the mainland. I’m wondering if Facebook is having a big step in negotiating with the Chinese government or they were just entertaining those group who visit Facebook with proxies. Was that a reason they held the Facebook Hack event in Hong Kong?
After 14 hours of learning and coding, I got he following gifts.
