各位好,這是造作工房的新網站啟用後,我們寫的首篇中文博文。本來,我只是打算將首篇博文「A New Creativeworks」翻譯為中文版,但寫此文的同時間,發現由於我電腦設定的關係,我在家寫的文章都會變成簡體字,令我不其然想到一個首要搞清楚的課題:造作工房應否用簡體字?巧合的是,我們內部幾日前才討論,印製新的名片,上面的中文應否用簡體字?而我們新網站日後的中文版,又應該用什麽文字?香港近期民怨高漲,部份香港人對香港面臨來自各方面的祖國化風潮,已經到了要爆發的程度。例如,內地人來港瘋狂買樓,令香港樓價一躍成為全宇宙最貴的地方;內地人來港瘋狂購物,令香港商區只剩名牌、化妝品、電子產品、金舖及葯房,亦令商業地段租金升至一個匪夷所思的水平;當然還有更觸動港人神經的雙非孕婦來港產子及中港自駕遊計劃等事件。但不知何解,簡體字似乎是近期才開始於香港廣泛出現,並達到一個惹人關注的地步。近日在Facebook流傳了兩張圖片,顯示某銀行集團在香港的廣告。有人將相關的兩家銀行,扣下「出賣香港」的惡名:在此前的一個月,其實我在天水圍區的輕鐵站上,亦留意到近似的現象:繁體文字固然有其美學,並有深厚的學術價值,我相信亦為中國人其中一樣引以為傲的發明。不過,在我這情況來說,對我最重要的,是使用文字的動機。我為何想過名片要用簡體中文?名片是企業形象,往往亦是商機的關鍵。作為造作工房品牌重塑的其一工程,我希望名片能表達一個訊息:造作工房的目標客戶,是包括內地人。這對我們來說,尤為重要,因為我們目前的客戶,鮮有中國背景的,作為一家香港企業,我們的客戶來自香港本土、日本、印度、英國、荷蘭都有,但直接來自中國境內的客戶,卻要到去年中才有第一家。事實上,我們的官方網頁,一直以來亦只有英文版,有見及此,我們亦已委托內地的專業人士,為我們的中文版網頁撰寫內容,因為只用簡體中文是不夠的,更要在文筆上貼合內地文化。我們的動機相當明確:打內地巿場。對於使用簡體中文,我只是單純從目標對象出發,如果我寫的中文是要給內地人看,我以簡體中文為優先字體,合理不過。作為官方網頁,我們加入繁體及簡體都沒問題,但作為名片,要同時包括兩種中文,就不太現實了吧?最後,我亦明白,繁體字的高深文化,並非簡體字可比,下圖流傳已久,值得再看:也許我比較幸運,因為我的名字並沒有繁簡之分。 林肇峰造作工房有限公司 (本文的圖片乃我於網上找到,苦尋出處未果,如涉及閣下,請立即與我們聯繫,必會盡快處理。) Read more [...]

Since I joined Creativeworks in late 2009, there have been a lot of changes to the company and to myself.The shareholding structure of Creativeworks changed a few times.Our office moved from a 400 sqft 50 yrs+ residential building in Causeway Bay to a 800 sqft refurbished office building in Kwun Tong.Our workforce increased from three (ie. all the shareholders) to eight.I joined on 1 Oct 2009, which is also the 60th Anniversary of the People Republic of China.Two years and a half passed, as warm up this might be too long.
